ART.MEMORY.ARCHEOLOGY.ABSTRACTION - Memory Maps, Aerial Views, Distant Past...

Give me big horizons: usually an island, off of an island, off of a peninsula, looking west over the North Atlantic. Or vast ancient inland seas baked dry and scoured by time. A pleasant or lightly challenging walk over layers of archeology with alignments of natural geography and human activity. A journey by boat giving a looming perspective of what it looks like from "out there". The magic of the night sky recalling that we have been looking out and looking in since earliest times. An aerial viewpoint of a coordinate. A map of memories. Paper and paint to remember it all.

Mooney has enjoyed exploring the art and archeology of Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, Orkney, the Outer Hebrides, Great Britain, France, the Great Lakes, the American Southwest, Canada, and US coastal regions.  Always seeking vast horizons with long timelines and deep layers.

"I know that experiencing iconic locales with the time to focus on painting, sketching, prehistory and history has been a unique artistic privilege - fueling my art practice with memories and powerful inspirations"

Mooney is a Signature Member of National Watercolor Society, Women in Watercolor, Acrylic Painters USA, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and the International Society of Experimental Artists - Nautilus.
